Chemical dependency an addiction to drugs or alcohol is a disease. A chemically dependent person is unable to stop drinking or taking mood-altering drugs despite serious health, economic, work, legal and social consequences.

Community Recovery Center

Chemical dependency affects people from all walks of life. It is a progressive disease that shortens a person's life expectancy. When alcohol or other drugs affect your daily life, your career or your relationships, it is time to seek help. The Community Recovery Center is an intensive outpatient program located at Grace view Behavioral Health.

Whether its alcohol, drugs or other mood-altering substances, we provide a treatment program to help you recover from addiction. The program is strictly confidential, and we treat all of our patients with dignity and respect. We help our patients find new ways to cope with life's challenges without the use of mood-altering chemicals. After treatment, we help you find the long-term support needed to be successful in your recovery.

The Community Recovery Center treatment program begins with an individual assessment with a licensed substance abuse professional, followed by an intensive five-week program consisting of outpatient group therapy and educational sessions. The treatment program is followed by our eight week After-Care Program to provide vital support while you begin to restore your life. We focus on helping you find new ways to cope with life's challenges by following a recovery model which includes:

  • Developing a plan to end/curb negative behaviors
  • Setting realistic goals
  • Practicing new skills and behaviors

Chemical dependency treatment is typically covered by health insurance.

Intensive Outpatient Program

Treatment consists of individual and group treatment in an intensive outpatient program. Patients meet three times a week i.e Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings (5:30 to 8:30 p.m.). Each session includes group therapy, followed by an educational session on various aspects of addiction. Most patients work or go to school while they are in the program.

The group sessions help patients identify with others in crisis and share ways to help each other in the recovery process. Group participants discuss their progression in drug or alcohol addiction and how it has affected them and their families. They learn new ways of coping with issues in their lives, how to prevent a relapse, how to repair damage with other people, and how to identify emotional issues that may trigger substance abuse. They also learn about sources of support.

Because substance abuse often affects family members, they are encouraged to participate in treatment by attending the educational sessions and private and group therapy sessions. These sessions help family members understand what the addicted person is experiencing and how to provide support during recovery.

After-Care Program

After the initial five weeks in the intensive outpatient program, the participants continue in after care once per week for eight weeks on Tuesday evenings (5:30 to 7 p.m.). In group meetings, participants discuss concerns related to early stage recovery, handling relapse and other issues.

People who complete the entire program, participate in a support group and have the support and involvement of family have a higher likelihood of succeeding in their recovery.

People who require additional services beyond the Community Recovery Center have immediate access to other services of Grace view Behavioral Health, including the inpatient mental health unit.

Long-Term Support for Recovery

Long-term support is essential to recovery, and we help our patients find appropriate support groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Al-Anon Family Group, Women for Sobriety and others. Support from family, friends and a spiritual community are also important parts of long-term recovery. Several support groups meet at our facilities, and there are more than 200 free, weekly meetings in the Arizona and surrounding area.

For some, individual counseling is also key to long-term recovery. We assist in finding a therapist who has experience in substance use issues as well as behavioral health. Working with a therapist who understands addiction can help address the emotional, mental, relationship or other issues you may face.
